About the Peabody Cultural Collaborative
Empowering a Community Through Art & Culture
The Peabody Cultural Collaborative (PCC) knows that a strong arts culture can make a community attractive to call home. It is why our collective mission is to support and promote the many organizations and institutions that are at the heart of our creative economy.
From Northeast Arc’s BlackBox Theater to the City of Peabody’s Wiggin Auditorium, from the Elizabeth Cassidy Folk Art Museum to the George Peabody House and Leatherworkers Museum, from the Peabody Institute Library to the Peabody Historical Society, our arts and culture scene is getting noticed. Just last fall, the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF) awarded the PCC and the City of Peabody its first Creative Placemaking Grant for CuriousCity, a temporary pop-up children’s museum slated to open March 31st.
We know that the arts create opportunities for social interaction, generate community pride, and add value to local economies. In fact, realtor.com recently named the City of Peabody the 5th hottest real estate market in the country. The PCC will continue to support our cultural assets that define our community.
To see how far Peabody has come, we revisited comments from that first focus group back in November 2015: A downtown coffee shop, venues for performances and gatherings, public art, support for creative businesses, live music, increased opportunities for artists to showcase and sell their work, and creative activities for children and young adults.
And guess what? Less than four years later, many of those ideas are now a reality. Peabody has multiple venues for performances and gatherings, a coffee shop downtown, public art, live music, and support for creatives individuals and their businesses!
